Pat McKinney is a Denver-based artist who specializes in murals, portraits, paintings, and design. His portfolio also includes poster art, storybook illustration, and a plethora of custom-commissioned artworks. Pat draws inspiration from his love of music, the outdoors, and color and from the depths of his quirky imagination. His style can be described as vibrant, soulful, whimsical, and upbeat.
Pat’s artistic journey began at a young age in Chicago, IL. Following in the footsteps of his grandfather and mother, he pursued an art degree and graduated from Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2015 with a B.F.A. in Illustration. Soon after college, Pat quickly immersed himself in Denver’s street art scene; he fell in love with spray painting the moment he picked up his first aerosol can. He’s been creating colorful wall art for Denver’s neighborhoods, businesses, and homes ever since – often alongside his creative collaborators, the So-Gnar Creative Division. Pat has participated in prestigious street art festivals such as Denver’s CRUSH Walls and Miami’s Art Basel and has painted murals in California, Chicago, Miami, and various Colorado mountain towns.
Pat resides in Denver’s Sloan’s Lake neighborhood with his wife, Natalie and their dog, Grizzly. When not hard at work in his home studio or at a job site, you can find Pat riding his bike around town, adventuring in the mountains, being active or lounging at Sloan’s Lake Park, or seeing live music with friends.
